I'm so excited today! I went to Margus Farms today for my weekly horse lessons. I was sooooo ready to tackle Dreamer since my new English saddle came to the house like, five seconds before we left! ([link] :My Saddle) I got the brown saddle since I had a dark brown English bridal from when we went to a monthly auction. I can't wait until we can go back so I can buy English equipment for Coco.
Anyway, let's get to why I'm uber excited. When I went to the barn, Thursday's crew was there for a make up lesson. So, okay, maybe Dreamer wouldn't be so bad then. Miss Maryland said that I could ride Dreamer and try to get her to listen....or I could try Coco. Holy Crap, I was so excited when she said I could try to ride Coco. I asked Miss Maryland if she was serious and she told me she was dead serious. I got so excited and quickly ran to get my new saddle from the truck and then some brushes to a saddle area and then almost ran to Coco, trying my best not to scream with excitement.
Coco was VERY good while saddling her. She didn't give me a fight until I went to do her feet. She refused to pick her feet up for me, so I just said screw it and went on saddling her. She was very patient and very eager to get saddled.
Once I brought her out of the barn and to the ring, I thought she would put up a hell of a fight since she hadn't been ridden in about a year since she got kicked and because her knee might be sore from my quick bare-back ride the other day. But she was actually splendid. The only problem I had was that she didn't want to stop since it hurt. And when Miss Maryland asked me to trot with her, she couldn't since it hurt so she did a lope...and I didn't know how to lope, so I didn't let her lope. But other then that, she did very well. I had to get off her once in a while because her leg would hurt very bad. But after walking a bit without weight on her back, she did better and I got back on and she did alright.
I was very happy with how well she did and I made sure she knew with constantly praising her and giving her kisses all the way back to the barn. And I have to say: she was beaming by the end of the whole ride since she knew she did so well. And then went I went to let her out so she could be with Dollie, which she's mostly heard bound to before I started working wit her, she turned around and tried to follow me. Miss Maryland, my mom and I were shocked that she tried to follow me instead of going to Dollie. So I had to give her a gentle push before she finally went to Dollie.
